Feasting – on the word – and on the grub!

Come listen to living prophets

How I love General Conference Weekend!  In our family we have a tradition to ‘feast’ on food’ while ‘feasting on the word’.  So this was our snackage while we heard Speakers like Boyd K. Packer talking about families, and Henry B. Eyring speaking on what it takes to endure.

The after noon session brought in a couple of tasty treats – the apple rhubarb dumplings were a real hit!

And while every speaker is amazing, Jeffery R. Holand truly stirred my soul with the wonderful explanation of Jesus’ parable in Matthew 20 of the laborers in the vineyard.

I’m so glad I have 2 more sessions to feast on tomorrow!

(It was also fun to see a couple of familiar faces in the MTC choir:-)

The wonderful thing about Saturday sessions are the 2 hour breaks designed especially for diabolical parents who whip out that dirty 4-letter word…WORK!  Bill pruned our pour apple tree practically down to a nub.  It needed it though.

You can see my lovely strawberry patch in the fore-ground.

He also cleared away a couple of “weed” trees to make room for a pear tree and the kids were in charge of clearing all that away and stacking wood and reeds neatly so later they can be used for some sort of decorative arbors … or something.

You can see the kids really dress up for it:-)

I also used some of our free labor to get some weed barrier down between the beds and get some pea gravel in.  I have almost all my seedlings started in containers, and I planted some flowers, but the bulk of the planting is still to come.  I plan on using these beds for rotation gardens, I’ll try to keep my blog updated on how that goes for anyone interested.
